In the Fall of 2020 I will be celebrating the completion of my 300 hr training with SOYA. I will have been teaching Yoga for 6 years and accumulated almost 4000 teaching hours, and I still feel like I have so much to learn.
I miss everyone that was kind enough to support my studio in Surrey. I hope that I will get a chance to reconnect with at least a few of you in Mexico! And for all the amazing people I have been fortunate to meet in Vernon, I hope you will also celebrate with me, for you are all my teachers.
Here is some more information to help you plan your trip!

Flights:
The best direct flights are with West jet. West jet has direct flights from Calgary to Manzanillo every Sunday and Thursday. There are early morning flights from Kelowna to Calgary to Manzanillo which will have us arriving in time for dinner on the beach.
I have been advised that booking connecting flights through Mexico City can be quite stressful and best to be avoided if possible. The West jet flight times work well with arrival and departure times. The cost of the flight is the same if you come for one week or several, I recommend taking advantage and staying longer!
My plan is to arrive November 8 and depart on Nov 22. Once you book your flight please send me the information. I can help match up any solo travelers and track your arrival and departure times. If we arrive on the same flights, we can share taxis to and from the airport.

Yoga:
I will be offering a morning yoga class (time to be determined by weather/temperature and group vote), as well as an evening yoga class (time also to be determined by weather/temperature and group vote). The morning class will be more active and depending on the group, I may do two different levels. The early evening class will be more of a Siesta. This is a chance to stretch, get out of the sun and have a nap so that you can be refreshed and ready to go out for your evening in Melaque!
Villa Xochipilli has a covered yoga studio with a variety of props and fans. It is outdoors so we will be exposed to the temperature as well as any insects. This is part of the experience, the last time I visited Melaque, I enjoyed several yoga classes and the best ones were the roof top studios under cover.
As well as the two group classes per day I would like to offer the opportunity to book a private or small group class of your choice. We can delve into asana, pranayama, chanting, meditation, philosophy or anything else you have an interest in! There is no additional charge for this.
What is not included:
flights, airport transfers, food/drink, transportation in village, excursions, activities etc.
Things to Know:
There are steep stairs throughout the Villa, in the rooms,as well as access to the rooftop spaces.
If you are sensitive to scents, please know that those around you will be using sun protection products as well as insect repellent. Some of these products can have a strong scent.
This is small town, rural Mexico, please expect to see dirt roads, stray dogs, insects etc.
Please do not drink the tap water. Bottled water is inexpensive and readily available at many local stores. Fruits and vegetable should be washed in treated water prior to consuming.
It is common to experience tummy upset when travelling. The best way to combat this is to stay well hydrated with water and electrolytes (either a sport powder in water or Gatorade etc). I also start taking a daily probiotic one week before our departure date and continue taking it during the holiday and once home. You may want to have gravel, pepto or charcoal tablets on hand, just in case.
There may be limited options for vegetarian or vegan options eating out. However, you will find the local grocery stores well stocked and your bungalow is well equipped for cooking and preparing food.
Things to do in the area:
You can easily walk to local restaurants, grocery stores and liquor stores. There is a bike rental shop nearby, which makes getting around the town very easy and fast. Bus stops are also close by (5 min to downtown Melaque) and 8 minutes to Barre de Navidad. You can swim and walk along the beach, take a bus or taxi to a nearby beach, go snorkeling, body surfing, horse back riding, tennis etc.
The sunsets and sun rises are spectacular!
